This comparison makes no sense. If a shoe store doesn’t have my size, I will take my business somewhere else. Just like I’ll be taking my vote elsewhere in November if it’s Hilary or Trump.
I’m really disappointed in Francesca. Telling people to vote blue no matter what when this is exactly the problem with this election; settling for the same old establishment politics. *sigh* you’re “disappointed” in me because I’m genuinely terrified by the prospect of Trump being our next president? Really? Ok, I’ll be that then.
Make no mistake, I have been VERY vocal about my dislike and distrust of Hillary Clinton from day one. And on national television at that! I’m not excited about the prospect of voting for her in November. But I will if I have to. Low democratic voter turn out is exactly what Donald Trump is counting on to win the election. Hence him encouraging Bernie to run as an independent.
The lesser of two evils sucks. Yes, the two party system is fucked up. But I’m pretty sure Trump putting a conservative republican in the open Supreme Court seat and undoing the progress we’ve made for women and LGBTQ folks will suck even more. I don’t doubt for a second that Trump wants to deliver on his promise to “make America great again.” His supporters already feel empowered enough to harass and assault Muslim & Mexican folks in his name, do you think that’s going to get better or worse if he’s in office? And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
But let me be clear (because I can already hear the Berners stampeding towards my inbox): Hillary has never been my first choice. But I have been incredibly disappointed and turned off by the way SOME Bernie supporters have behaved (using my photo without permission, harassing me on social media etc) and now proclaiming they won’t vote if he doesn’t get the nomination. I fully stand behind what I said: I think handing the White House over to Trump is stupid. And I’m not going to apologize for saying so. I really don’t think that’s what Bernie would want, but do or don’t do whatever you want with your vote.
I’m a lesbian and somehow I manage to walk down the street and not ogle women I find attractive, or cat call or degrade them, or touch them without permission, or interrupt their daily lives, it’s almost as if I’m treating them like human beings despite my attraction to them. What an insane concept.
